Videoconference 24 May: The Challenges of Certification Systems in Latin America and the Caribbean

Banner del evento

Mechanisms for the certification of competences have existed in the region since before the 1980s and have developed extensive experience and learning throughout this process. More recently, the concept of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) has been promoted and distinguished in many countries. This underlines the concept and scope of making visible and certifying the competences that a person demonstrates after a process of assessment and diagnosis.

This videoconference is part of the course on Certification of competencies and Recognition of Prior Learning, which is being developed by ILO/Cinterfor from 15 May to 23 June.

The objective of this session was to hear from the speakers about the central features of the institutions, their innovations, progress and challenges in recent years. The exchange was organised around 4 main questions:

  1. What are the main features of certification in the institution?
  2. What innovations and advances can you identify in recent years?
  3. What is the response to the attention given to the migrant population?
  4. What do you consider to be the main challenges for the future of the institution?

During the event, the participants raised questions and comments that allowed them to deepen some aspects of the presentations made.

The event was attended by the following participants:
